OVERALL means the imported sessions from 2018 onward for the selected circuit, session scope and layout. It is not an all-time historical record. Missing sessions are excluded and reported in the coverage count. Practice and sprint sessions are not included.
Only complete laps marked accurate by FastF1 are included. Deleted laps, pit-in and pit-out laps, missing or non-positive sector times are excluded. The three sectors must sum to the lap time within 5 milliseconds. This conservative filter may omit a valid sector on an otherwise incomplete lap.
An ideal lap combines independently fastest sectors, potentially from different drivers, years, tyres and weather conditions. It is a mathematical comparison, not a lap anyone actually drove or a prediction of what a car could achieve. Qualifying and race data can be separated above.
Layout groups separate known circuit changes; unreviewed circuits stay in separate annual groups. Resurfacing, regulations and timing-line changes can still affect comparisons. Maps show reference geometry, not every historical revision. Terrain comes from a 90 m digital elevation model and may include nearby structures; it is not surveyed asphalt elevation. 3D height exaggeration is adjustable and labelled.
